Michael J. Mannion Joins Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois

CHICAGO, IL — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) today announced that Michael J. Mannion has joined the company as Vice President of Government and Public Affairs, effective January 2, 2012.

In his newly-created role at BCBSIL, Mannion will oversee BCBSIL’s legislative and public affairs initiatives from the company’s Springfield, Illinois, office. Mannion has practiced law in Illinois for more than 19 years and is a registered lobbyist.

Mannion, a native of Chicago’s South Side, earned his J.D. from John Marshall Law School and his Bachelor of Science degree from Marquette University. He is a member of the Illinois Executive Mansion Association, a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and a past President of the Sangamon County Bar Association.

Prior to joining BCBSIL, Mannion was a partner at Giffin, Winning, Cohen & Bodewes in Springfield, where his practice focused on governmental affairs and regulatory issues. He lives in Springfield with his wife and their four children.
