Note Regarding Coverage for Mammogram and Cervical Cancer Screenings
Although new mammogram and cervical cancer screening guidelines have recently been proposed, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) will continue to provide medical coverage for routine mammograms and cervical cancer screenings for women as ordered by their physicians and outlined in the member's certificate.
BCBSIL regularly monitors research in an effort to ensure that our medical policies are current. We will provide updates as necessary; at this time, however, medical coverage for mammograms and cervical cancers remains unchanged.
If you have any questions or concerns about any tests, you should discuss them with your physician. If you have questions about your coverage, please contact BCBSIL Customer Service using the phone number on the back of your ID card.
