Types of Health Insurance Coverage
Health insurance plans come in all shapes and sizes. All plans must offer a minimum level of coverage as specified by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Some plans are comprehensive, meaning that they cover a wide range of services. Most plans are offered in one-year time increments; however, short-term plans are also available for people who are looking to fill a gap in coverage.
Aside from medical coverage, some health insurance plans offer coverage for additional services such as maternity coverage, dental coverage, and prescription drug coverage. These services are not automatically covered in all plans, so it's important to check your plan if you need these services.
