- Contact the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213 to confirm your eligibility for Medicare benefits.
- Review your current health insurance coverage to find out what happens after you turn 65.

4 to 6 months prior…
- Contact BCBSIL to review Medicare Supplement Insurance Plan options at 1-800-646-3000, contact an authorized agent, or
get a no-obligation free rate quote for a Medicare Supplement insurance plan online now. - Attend a FREE Service in the Neighborhood educational seminar from BCBSIL.
- Check with your doctor(s) to see if they accept Medicare.
- Contact Department of Insurance Senior Health Insurance Program at 1-800-548-9034 or visit the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation Web site* to explore your Medicare Supplement rights and guarantees.
1 to 3 months prior...
- Enroll in Medicare Parts A and B. If you have not received your automatic enrollment information in the mail, contact the Social Security Administration at 1-800-772-1213.
- Enroll in a MEDICARE SUPPLEMENT insurance plan.
