The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) has developed marketing guidelines to ensure that Medicare eligible beneficiaries receive the most accurate and complete information available. Before you can sell Blue MedicareRx (PDP), the CMS requires that you obtain Medicare Part D certification.
- BCBSIL must make certain that all producers are state certified to sell Blue MedicareRx (PDP), and producers who are not certified will not receive commission for sales of Blue MedicareRx (PDP)
- BCBSIL must supply and expect our contracted entities (such as producers) to only use marketing materials that have been submitted to and approved by the CMS.

2010 Certification Frequent Asked Questions
Training
To become certified to sell Blue MedicareRx(PDP) each year you must take the following steps after logging into KnowledgeWire.
- Complete the pre course form
- Complete the KnowledgeWire Web-based training
- Rules and Regulations Course and Exam
- Product Course and Exam
- Review the HISC Medicare Compliance Program and complete the Medicare Part D Certification
- Electronically sign the HISC Medicare amendment (if applicable)

Certification
This year you will have two options for taking the required Medicare Rules and Regulations training.
You can choose:
Regardless of which course you choose for your recertification, you are also required to complete our Blue MedicareRx (PDP) Product specific course, exam, and requirements in order to complete the training and certification requirements for 2010.

HISC
The HISC training is at no cost to you. You have the opportunity to earn three (3) hours of continuing education credit for completing certification as an HISC producer.
After you complete the course for rules and regulations, and pass the exam with a score of 85% or better, you are required to take the product training. You must pass that exam with a score of 85% or better. In addition, you must complete your legal and compliance forms and sign the amendment (if applicable). If you complete all of the tasks, the information will be sent by HISC to the Department of Insurance giving you the three (3) hours credit. The process will take approximately 2 weeks or less.

AHIP
The AHIP course is competitively priced at $100 and offers you the opportunity to earn six (6) hours of continuing education (additional state processing fee charged).
If you already have completed the AHIP course for another carrier, use the link to update your profile. This action will initiate a record of your training completion to be sent to Blue MedicareRx (PDP). There are no additional fees charged to have your results sent to us. Your completion of the AHIP course will be recognized as credit for the HISC Rules and Regulations course. Our training system will be updated within two business days after you have updated your profile upon completion of the AHIP course.

Remember
You must return to Blue Access for Producers to access the HISC training link to complete the remaining 2010 Training and Certification requirements in order to be eligible to market and sell Blue MedicareRx (PDP) in 2010.
Everyone has to use the HISC Certification link to complete the certification process, even if you are getting credit for AHIP training (or CMS training). You were sent an email that gave your personal log in Identification Numbers and your password (this is your BCBSIL assigned producer number). If you have already taken the AHIP training, you will have the rules and regulations course and exam credited in your To Do or Task List. You will not be required to take this section of the HISC certification.
You must complete ALL of the tasks in their To Do or Task List to be certified to market and sell Blue MedicareRx (PDP).
