| Marketing Multiple Products |
CMS allows for the marketing and selling of multiple health insurance related products from the same carrier if the following stipulations are met:
- Prospect must agree in advance of the appointment to discuss multiple products. This discussion must be documented. For example, if you contact Mrs. Jones about Blue MedicareRx and there is no discussion of Medicare Supplement insurance plans during the course of that conversation, you may not discuss Medicare Supplement insurance plans with her at that appointment.
- When making an in-home appointment with a prospect, you must inform the prospect of all product lines that will be discussed prior to the in-home appointment. Additional lines of business that are not agreed to prior to the in-home appointment will require a separate appointment with the prospect.
- Additional appointments with the prospect may not be scheduled until 48 hours after the initial appointment. This "cooling off" period is mandated by CMS and is meant to ensure that the prospect does not feel pressured.
- Regardless of the number of products discussed at a meeting, the materials must be distinct and not packaged together. A separate enrollment form must be completed for each product. As mentioned in other sections, all materials used to educate or enroll potential enrollees and/or members require appropriate approvals by HCSC and CMS prior to use.
