When and How to Check Claim Status
If you have submitted a claim but have not received your desired response within your expected time frame, your next step should be to check claim status.
Online—
You or your billing agent can get real-time results by checking claim status electronically.
- Submit an electronic claim status request (ANSI 276 transaction) to BCBSIL via your preferred vendor portal or practice management system.
- Don’t have a vendor portal? See our E-Commerce Connections menu for vendor options.
Telephone—
If you do not have the capability to submit electronic claim status requests, you may contact our automated phone system, as follows:
- Call our Provider Telecommunications Center (PTC) at (800) 972-8088.
- Our automated Interactive Voice Response (IVR) phone system is available Monday through Friday 6 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., CT, and Saturday, 6 a.m. to 3 p.m., CT.
