Video: Driving Access to Preventive Care for Men

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) recently welcomed community members to its Blue Door Neighborhood CenterSM locations in Chicago to celebrate Men’s Health Month and the upcoming NASCAR Chicago Street Race taking place outside BCBSIL's Chicago headquarters July 1-2.

At events in Morgan Park, Pullman and South Lawndale, men were encouraged to take advantage of free FIT kits for colorectal cancer screening, as well as screenings for prostate cancer, glucose and cholesterol levels. The events also included talks about mental health, guided yoga and meditation sessions and fresh produce boxes.

"The most important thing about this event is for men to go out and get tested," said Lenell Eskridge, a Phi Beta Sigma fraternity member who volunteered at the Morgan Park event. "Arm yourself with information."
