Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois Receives Four-Star Award From National Committee for Quality Assurance

BCBSIL recognized for its continuous commitment to high-quality, person-centered care 

CHICAGO — Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois was awarded a four-star rating from the National Committee for Quality Assurance in recognition for delivering high-quality service and coverage to members of the HealthChoice Illinois Medicaid and Medicare-Medicaid Alignment Initiative programs.

The NCQA is a private, non-profit organization dedicated to improving health care quality. BCBSIL is the only statewide Illinois health insurer to earn the NCQA four-star rating.

“We are honored to have earned a four-star rating from the NCQA for our work to further improve quality and health outcomes of our Medicaid and MMAI members across the state,” said BCBSIL Medicaid President Nancy Wohlhart. “This underscores our commitment to using analytics to promote health equity, prevention and public health statewide.”

The four-star rating recognizes Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois for excellence in four dozen measures covering the quality of health care, favorability of member outcomes and member experience. This places BCBSIL in the top 20 percent of Medicaid health plans nationally.

BCBSIL serves more than 714,000 Medicaid and 20,000 MMAI members in all 102 Illinois counties and has participated in the state’s Medicaid program since 2014.
