What are "Providers with Recognition/Certification/Accreditation"? This is a search option. It can help you learn more about providers. The recognitions are made by independent third-party sources.

These recognitions come from sources other than Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL). The other sources recognize providers for meeting certain standards or criteria.

Recognition can come from a variety of sources. Examples include:

  • A doctor may be recognized by the American Board of Family Medicine
  • A doctor may be certified by the National Committee of Quality Assurance (NCQA)
  • A hospital may be accredited by the Joint Commission

Providers can be recognized based on a number of standards or criteria. these can include, but are not limited to, if they:

  • Take part in clinical improvement programs (doctors and hospitals)
  • Complete more education and/or training
  • Maintain board certifications (doctors)
  • Maintain accreditation (hospitals)

Please note that BCBSIL is not responsible for:

  • Recognitions or certifications from other sources or organizations
  • A provider having or not having been recognized or certified by other sources or organizations
  • Information from other sources or organizations being correct or up to date
