New for 2025: Member Rewards

Did you know that prices for the same quality medical services can differ by thousands of dollars within the same region and health plan network? Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois provides Member Rewards, a program that offers cash rewards when a lower-cost, quality option is selected. Best of all, shopping with Member Rewards could help lower your out-of-pocket costs.

The Member Rewards program is quick and easy to use.

Step 1

Call a Benefits Value Advisor or shop online by logging in to Blue Access for MembersSM  to find a reward-eligible location for your procedure or service.

Step 2

Get the procedure or service at your chosen reward-eligible location.

Step 3

Receive a cash reward by check, which will be mailed directly to your home, after your claim is paid and the location is verified as reward-eligible.

Member Rewards uses our Provider Finder® tool to help you:

  • Compare costs and quality for numerous procedures such as screenings, scans, surgeries and more
  • Estimate out-of-pocket costs
  • Earn cash rewards
  • Save money and make the most efficient use of your health care benefits
  • Consider treatment decisions with your doctors

Most of us look for value when we’re shopping — why not apply this practice to shopping for health care services? With Member Rewards, you can reduce your costs and take more control of your health care financial decisions.

Did you know you have access to a rewards program as part of your health plan benefits with Blue Cross and Blue Shield? It's called Member Rewards. With this program, you can save money and earn cash rewards when you shop and select cost effective, high quality providers in network from medical services like MRIs, colonoscopies, surgeries, and more.

Let's look at how Jasmine saved on out-of-pocket costs and earned cash with Member Rewards after she injured her knee playing pickleball. Jasmine met with her doctor, who recommended she get a CT scan of her right knee.

Jasmine knows she can save money and even earn some cash if she uses Member Rewards to find an imaging center for the procedure. Jasmine reviews the list of high quality options and selects a reward-eligible provider with great ratings and who's estimated cost is significantly less than the other providers. Then she calls their office to schedule an appointment.

The following week, Jasmine visits the provider she selected using Member Rewards and has a CT scan of her right knee. About six weeks later, she receives her reward check in the mail. And Jasmine knows exactly how she wants to use the extra cash.

She plans to buy a new pair of shoes and a pickleball paddle. Remember, Member Rewards helps you compare costs, save money, and earn cash rewards. It's easy to use. And here's how. First, shop online for your procedure or service by logging into Blue Access for Members at bcbsxx.com. Search for doctors or facilities using the Provider Finder tool and select a reward eligible option. Next, get the procedure or service with your chosen reward eligible provider.

And then look for your reward check in the mail within six to eight weeks from Member Rewards program administrator Zelis. Reward checks are mailed directly to your home after your claim is paid and the provider is verified as reward eligible.

If you have questions or need help, call the number on the back of your member ID card.
