Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois Recognized as Champion for Community Impact

Skills for Chicagoland’s Future has recognized Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois with this year’s Champion for Community Impact Award.

The award recognizes the opening of BCBSIL's Morgan Park facility on Chicago’s South Side and the company's partnership with Skills and other nonprofits to ensure that community members are recipients of the jobs.

BCBSIL worked with Skills for Chicagoland’s Future to place nearly one-third of the first class of employees at the Morgan Park center. More than 60% of the employees hired for jobs there so far live fewer than 10 miles away.

“Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois is proud to work with Skills for Chicagoland’s Future to hire employees at the new Solutions Center in Morgan Park,” said Manika Turnbull, divisional senior vice president, Workforce, Talent & Business Engagement, for the insurer and a Skills board member. “We are committed to make a lasting impact for our members and the communities where they live and work, including hiring within the communities we serve.”
