Crain's Chicago Business 40 Under 40 feature recognizes business, nonprofit, government and cultural leaders who’ve made an impact on Chicago business and the community. This year, Crain’s is honoring Salma Khaleq, a vice president in our Network Management area, for her innovative work in care initiatives with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) participating providers.
Improving member health, decreasing costs and increasing access to care is critical to the stability and success of the health care industry. Ms. Khaleq has been an advocate for the stability of care since she was a teenager, helping her father navigate health coverage options. She believes that, “Access and affordability are rights and people shouldn’t have to struggle to afford their coverage.”
Previously acknowledged BCBSIL leaders include Vice President and Chief Medical Officer Derek Robinson, M.D., (class of 2014), and Provider Performance Vice President Krishna Ramachandran (class of 2017).
