Save on Prescription Drugs and Get Home Delivery
You can save money on prescription drugs with our plans. You also can get your prescriptions delivered right to your home – it’s easy and saves time.

Prescription Drug Search
Drugs covered by Blue Cross Medicare AdvantageSM and Blue Cross MedicareRxSM plans are listed in formularies (drug lists). Each plan has its own drug list which includes generic and brand name drugs. The list also provides information about drug copays and limitations such as prior authorization, quantity limit, and step therapy.
Drug lists can change. Normally, any changes in the drug list are included in the list at the beginning of each year. However, during the year, we might make other changes that are allowed by Medicare rules. We will let you know about these changes before they happen.
Finding out if your prescription is covered is easy with our Drug Finder tool . It’s updated regularly, so you can find the most up-to-date list of drugs covered by each plan. You will also get a printed formulary in your welcome kit.
Preferred Network Pharmacies
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois has contracts with pharmacies nationwide that are the same as or are better than the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services requirements for pharmacy access. To receive benefits, you must use network pharmacies or our home delivery pharmacy service, except in emergencies.
Facts About Network Pharmacies
You can choose from preferred and standard network pharmacies when filling prescriptions. You may choose either type, but you will usually save money by paying a lower copay or coinsurance when you use a preferred pharmacy. Preferred network pharmacies include Jewel-Osco, Mariano’s, Walgreens, Walmart and other independent pharmacies.
Some plans1 include only Jewel-Osco and Walgreens as preferred pharmacies.
Search the Pharmacy Finder tool to find the most up-to-date network of pharmacies or find a list of preferred network pharmacies for each plan in the Pharmacy Directory by visiting the Forms and Documents page.
What you should know about using out-of-network pharmacies
Covered drugs are available at out-of-network pharmacies in emergencies or unusual circumstances, like non-routine access to covered Part D drugs when traveling outside the plan’s service area where there is no network pharmacy.
For more information on these special circumstances for out-of-network coverage and pharmacies that may be available to you, please contact us.
