Joining is easy. There are two ways for you to join Illinois Medicaid. Call or go online. Illinois Client Enrollment Services will send you more information. This will help you choose a health plan when you are approved.
Is Blue Cross Community Health Plans℠ Right for Me?
If you are a person or family covered by HealthChoice Illinois, we offer Blue Cross Community Health Plans (BCCHP) to you. HealthChoice Illinois is also called Illinois Medicaid. It is provided by the Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS). First you apply for Medicaid. Then, you can choose BCCHP as your health plan if you are eligible.

Am I Eligible to Enroll?
Want to find out if you should apply for Illinois Medicaid? For a step-by-step process, go to the ABE website.
If at least ONE of these apply to you, you may qualify for Illinois Medicaid:
- Child’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
You are a family or child and you:- Can get Medicaid through Title XIX.
- Can get Medicaid through Title XXI.
- Eligible for these programs:
- You are under the age of 21 and have:
- Supplemental Security Income (SSI).
- Division of Specialized Care for Children (DSCC).
- A disability.
- Affordable Care Act (ACA)
You are an adult who qualifies for Medicaid under the ACA. This means your monthly earnings is less than 138% of federal poverty level. - You qualify for Medicaid but not Medicare and are:
- Age 65 or older; or
- At least 19 years old and have a disability
Do none of the above apply to you? You may still be able to join. Find out if you qualify for Managed Long-Term Services and Supports (MLTSS).
